First Class Murder by Robin Stevens
5.0
It’s the 1920s and what’s more, it’s the holidays. Hazel Wong and Daisy Wells are taking a well earned break from Deepdean boarding school. Mr Wong, Hazel’s Father, is a very important business man from Hong Kong and he has booked a very special business trip on which to take the girls - they are to travel across Europe on the Orient Express! Daisy is a massive Agatha Christie fan and plans to read her books all the way there. Hazel is just so excited to be under talking this journey with her best friend. There’s some odd characters in their carriage and some tension before the wheels even get turning. And wouldn’t you just know it?! Some poor bugger ends up murdered and the only people who can crack the case are our fearless teenage heroines!
I absolutely love this series. Although they are aimed at young adult readers they are just a good, enjoyable read without being too challenging. They bark back to a time long ago when people said things like “Jolly good cake Mrs Bunty!” And “Toodlepip!”
