All the Dead Lie Down by Kyrie McCauley
4.0
A solid YA gothic horror story that was eerie without being outright scary. The plot reminded me of 'The Haunting of Bly Manor', and the atmosphere reminded me of 'We Have Always Lived in the Castle'. There were lots of nice elements like the manor where odd things happen, the creepy children, the undead animals with mushrooms growing on them, the tarot cards, etc. I also liked the characters, and the romance was nothing spectacular but it was cute; I appreciate that it was sapphic. I loved the twists! I didn't see any of them coming at all which was nice. Overall this was an entertaining read that felt cosy and creepy all at once, which is right up my alley.
