Everything I Know About Love: A Memoir by Dolly Alderton

hopeful informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

“When you’re looking for love and it seems like you might not ever find it, remember you probably have access to an abundance of it already, just not the romantic kind. This kind of love might not kiss you in the rain or propose marriage. But it will listen to you, inspire and restore you. It will hold you when you cry, celebrate when you’re happy, and sing All Saints with you when you’re drunk. You have so much to gain and learn from this kind of love. You can carry it with you forever. Keep it as close to you as you can.”

WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU LACK A BEST FRIEND. YOU WILL FEEL INTENSE FOMO.

somebody recommended this to me, said it’s the best book to read if you’re in your early to mid 20s. i had no clue who Dolly Alderton is, and yet her story moved me in unexpected ways. i relate to her, in certain aspects, but also relate a lot to her best friend Farly. the quotes are amazing and it teaches you about love — all kinds, whether it’s romantic, platonic, or familial — teaches you about knowing your worth, and gives advice to those lost in their 20s.
