I'm not sure if I like this book or not. The message this book tried to tell was probably the part I liked the most. It actively tries to make the reader understand what abusers and those they abuse go through mentally and physically, the struggles and barriers, and I definitely learned something new.
However, the writing outside the main plot/theme was lackluster for me. It read like a 12-year-old's diary, and I ended up not giving a shit about Lily's life outside of Ryle and Atlas because of it, and that's disappointing. Lots of telling, not showing, lots of repetition in writing, a few cliches... some eye rolling is inevitable.
There is a prequel coming out this year. Will I read it? If a copy ever finds its way into my hands, sure, I'll try it. If not, I won't actively seek it out. I recommend the same for this book if anyone is interested.
