We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix

dark tense medium-paced

4.0

Grady Hendrix is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. We Sold Our Souls was a fantastic read told through the conspiracy theories and misconceptions that revolve around Metal music, metalheads, and the culture of their music. But in the world that Hendrix gives us, are they just conspiracies? Set in 2019, it follows the former female guitarist as she strikes out to find what went wrong when suddenly her life went to hell and the frontman of their old 80’s/90’s band skyrocketed to fame and fortune. What she originally believes is a personal quest to let old wounds heal quickly turns into an epic adventure to save the world.. There are times where the worlds are blurred and as the reader you find yourself questioning whether or not it’s just a bunch of conspiracies or if there are literal demons involved. If you are a fan of 80’s metal, Stranger Things, and oddly enough Pixar’s Onward… Give this a read.
