House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

This was insane. I have expected so much less and I was so happy it did not disappoint. The first 100 pages were a struggle, the world building, so many new characters and locations to remember. I wrote down some small notes to help me remember everything in the start and it did help a lot to keep track of things and people. And then it was SO fun! I truly didn´t expect to enjoy an urban fantasy so much, because I am 100% a dark and high fantasy girlie. But it exceeded all my expectations and I really loved it! The story was great, I even loved the MCs and the last 200 pages left me in RUINS, it was amazing.

The characters and storyline

By the time I started to remember characters and understand stuff a bit, chapter 5 happens. UM, WHO HURT YOU SJM? I really liked Danika´s and Bryce´s relationship, I LOVE when there is some besties action in books and their bond was so strong, it made me cry a few times. The loss of a loved one was perfectly portrayed in Bryce´s behavior and it really resonated with me on occasions. I was absolutely shocked that Bryce became such a good, self-sufficient SJM heroine. Her strength was not over the limit and so well written and explained by the backstory.
My favorite character is still Ruhn. I have LOVED him since the first appearance and even after Hunt came into the picture, my heart was owned by Mr. Danaan. It was so refreshing and nice to see a brother/sister relationship, as a girl with three brothers of my own, I found it so nice.
The story was crazy good. The last 200 pages finale, I tried my best not to gape with open mouth at my Kindle. Absolutely not expected and insane. At Light it up, Danika! I cried my eyes out like everyone else, duh. I honestly can´t wait to read House of Sky and Breath after this, before HoFaS comes out, because it got me so hyped for more of this series. Truly a masterpiece.
