Pollyanna
by Eleanor H. Porter
A favorite from when I was a child, I read this again as part of a challenge (a book from my childhood). Ugh! What a sugary sweet annoying character Pollyanna is. Anyone that positive all the time deserves a slap across the face. And the adults weren't much better, always creepily referring to her as 'little girl'. And what's with a 60 year old man pressuring an 11 year old girl to make a life changing decision? All this book would teach children now is that you'll be happier if you make your hair look pretty. Blech!!
