Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick
3.0

I was wary about reading this, because I'm generally skeptical about history that relies entirely on the European settlers' histories/diaries. My friend, Robin, recommended this to me so I read it anyway, as she generally makes decent recommendations.

I really enjoyed the first parts of the book, which discuss the Pilgrims' journey to Cape Cod and their initial encounters with the local Native peoples.

The last third of the book revolves around King Philip's War. I must say that that portion was dreadfully dull. It was nauseating to read the Puritans' accounts of the war, particularly since one knows, obviously, who will triumph at the end.
