Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

5.0

I’m SO thankful that Wednesday Books sent me a copy of this book and introduced me to a story I might never have read on my own.

I can 10000% see Divine Rivals being in my top five reads of 2023 and I’ll hold this one close to my heart for a long while.. maybe even on my list of forever favorites. There was just something about Ross’ writing style that just sucked me right into this story, as if it was a movie playing inside my head and I was standing right there in the heat of the action. It was truly breathtaking from start to finish.

This is a story about rivals to lovers but so much more. At times, it feels like a story about real life war and the devastation that it brings to so many lives but then there’s a touch of god/goddess lore with a every so slight sprinkle of magic throughout. I don’t know how the author managed to pull it together but combined, it’s pure magic.

The romance was chefs kiss perfection. I couldn’t ask more from a rivals to lovers story. At times my heart was being crushed, at other moments there were happy or sad tears in my eyes. This book made me feel so many things throughout the entire book. It was captivating and magical and everything, plus more, that I hoped it would be.

If Divine Rivals isn’t already on your tbr, then do yourself the favor by picking up a copy and spending the time getting lost between the pages. I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it.
