The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters

Two family stories intertwined with loss and secrets for generations. Interesting concept which was kept focus on this narrow scope while also incorporating Indigenous stories.
On the surface this book did a great job, keeping the narrative focused and minor cast of characters who all had some depth. This book was just missing that extra something that makes a book great. I assume it has to do with the writing style because the composition was good, the stories were evocative and I did really feel for the characters in many moments. I do not think this is a bad book by any means and would recommend to anyone who wants to read a relatively short novel on family ties, trauma, and Indigenous stories - it just didn't blow me away.
