2.5 but rounding up

Let me start by saying the audiobook narrator was great. She really played with her tone and I liked it a lot.

Also, this was the first story I read in this series. I think that’s important to note because there was a lot of unnecessary friend details which tried to catch up or remind the reader but for me it just was too much to follow. I don’t know if these are meant as stand alone but I wish I had realized it was a series and read them in order.

My issues seem to be that of others. I thought the beginning was a little choppy. I liked the low angst at first. But I found it hard to believe Brynn would jump to suck conclusions and given this I didn’t think she deserved Maxwell in the end. There were lots of little details that didn’t work for me or just didn’t seem to add to the story. Her mom issue was a bit unnecessary, even if it was serving to show why brynn wasn’t great with relationships. I am guessing we got info in another book but how did she afford that bar? And how could she really afford to give jobs out wherever she went? Just a lot of pieces that didn’t add up or make sense. Maxwell was a great book boyfriend! But as a whole I just felt it was lacking. I will still try out another book by this author.
