I really wanted to love this book, but was sadly disappointed.
If you’re looking for lengthy, detailed descriptions of a beautiful magical circus, you’ll get it…and not much else. I tried to keep an open mind as the world building just kept going and going and I was convincing myself I was having a good time but nothing. ever. happened.
There’s no real story here. No plot. An incredibly loose magic system that gives no real stakes and a love story that was told to us but certainly was not felt. I couldn’t get fully immersed into the world because I was too confused by the jumbled timelines and too many points of view. I was left with more questions than answers, and not in a good way.
