A Week in December by Sebastian Faulks

5.0

No spoilers.
Blurb: You'll need a cheat-sheet for the characters, but it's worth it. Multiple characters crossing paths in London in one week.

Longer: It's hard not to give spoilers, so I'll say this: you will need some notes to remind you of all the characters and what they do and how they are related. Faulks does an excellent job of introducing them all in a way that makes them feel truly human. If you liked the movie "Magnolia" or any of the Altman-esque type movies with large ensembles overlapping, then I think you'd like this. The overlapping themes kept my mind humming, and looking for new connections between characters. In some ways, it was an interesting puzzle with many layers. I don't think it would be for everyone, but if you've ever found it worth it to plow through a Russian novel with lots of characters, then I think you'll really like this, especially since it isn't that long. It's like a long meditation on life, love, good, evil, religion, money, parenting, fear and hope.
