The Tenant has the makings of a cinematic noir thriller, but there's an understated quality that makes it feel subdued if not even a bit boring. That being said, I kind of appreciate the banality of its characters because it adds an air of realism to the kind of story that works well with it. The plot develops naturally and while it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat, it did keep me guessing and wondering.
