This was a quick and easy read and my first book from this author. That said, Avery radiated pick-me energy in the beginning was pretty annoying honestly. Also, I was confused why Carter's jealousy of Bodie was never addressed. His jealousy in the first place was strange because I got no vibes in the beginning that Bodie had romantic feelings for Avery, but all of a sudden Carter thinks he's jealous and Bodie starts acting weird? Like really weird? But nothing comes of it and they both just accept each other and move on? Strange. The pacing was pretty good for being a shorter book, though I wish the EJ plot line wasn't so rushed at the end. From the revelation that EJ reveals to the solution that Carter and Avery came up with, the wrap up just lacked enthusiasm and was generally just lackluster. The writing left a little to be desired but if you want a quick read full of baseball and heart (and a third act breakup due to adults not communicating and talking about their feelings), then this is for you.
