i watched the movie and fell in love with it. once i began my journey in the world of literature i knew i would have to knock this off my list. at first i was thrown off by the convention of the text: “dear friend”, yet i soon yearned to see those words as often as i could. this book brings some of the most laid out characters, courtesy of a very observational protagonist, and gives us the pleasure of watching them grow up. it handles a significant amount of real world issues and gives each the respect and decency they warrant, and overall brings a simple warm feeling to my heart, where i’m grateful that i got to meet and watch these characters.
