Just as Heart of Night and Fire, I loved this book and the progression of the story!
The world is beautifully described and the magic system is unique and well executed!
Obviously, this review may include a few spoilers for the first book in the series.
In this book, we get to know the characters a little better while the story progresses. The friendship between Zarya and Yasen deepens and its fun to watch them! Also, despite all the hardships and conflicts of her upbringing, Zarya starts to reconnect with Row and Aarav, which felt very natural in the way it was done. The romance starts to pick up in this book, so if you've waited for that in book one, you'll definitely be rewarded in this book! On the same note, I'm usually not a fan of nicknames, but I have to say - Spitfire did it for me.
Rabin is very much that dark, moody love interest, but he is not the type of "alphamale" often seen in books, he is able to talk about his feelings and show his fears openly, a big plus for me!
Another aspect I really appreciated in this book is the communication as a whole. This book does not rely on miscommunication, instead the characters communicate with each other well. This happens between Zarya and Rabin, but also between Zarya and Row, as Zarya works to come to terms with the way she was brought up. The open communication made the characters seem more alive and, for me, made the scenes a lot more emotional than they would have been.
I cannot wait to read book three in the series and feel the urgent need to pick up the other books by Nisha J. Tuli!
Thank you to the author, Nisha J. Tuli, and the publishers for providing me with an ARC for "Dance of Stars and Ashes"! All opinions are my own.
