As with the previous books in this series, this was an enjoyably consistent read throughout. The pacing was generally consistent, but there are a few sections where the action does become tense.

Being the last book in this arc of the series, tying up all the threads in a satisfactory manner was a major concern, which, on the whole, it manages to do, though the last thirty or so pages did seem a bit rushed as it tried to do a "Lord of the Rings" style wrap-up.

My one disappointment with these novels in general has been the lack of emotional connection the writing generates to the characters, even though otherwise they are well constructed and presented. There were a couple of instances towards the end of this novel that did have an emotional punch, though not as much as I would have liked.

There is also at least one major thread that was left dangling, which I was assuming was going to be a highlight of the climax, but this didn't happen, which was disappointing, though I guess it would be possible for this to be addressed in the next arc.

One of the true highlights of this novel has been Adolin's story, which, on reflection, has probably been the most satisfying of all the character arcs.
