A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift
3.0

This is the most renowned example of satire and rightfully so. Short, zany and worth the read. I only have it rated 3 stars because of my personal bias against the early English style of writing with obscure verbose prose. Purely personal because it was a tad bit painful to read relative to other works I enjoy. But the central argument is perfect and the exposition is funny, sharp and biting - this lays out a formula for satirical writing that all proceeding writing should use as a reference and benchmark.
