If I had a nickle for every time I'd read Indigenous horror where basketball and bad things happening to dogs took up a lot of page space, I'd have two nickles—which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I really enjoyed this story, as well as the narrator, Shaun Taylor-Corbett. I did feel as if it revealed the mystery behind the horror early on (about halfway through the book), which meant that the rest was just waiting for the final nail in the coffin, rather than wondering and feeling anxious like I see with most horror.
I'm not sure if that's necessarily a bad or good thing, but definitely impacted how I felt after the epiphany.
I enjoyed the prose and cadence of the overall story, and thought it was overall very well-written.
