Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

3.0

Ok alright as usual I’m super fucking late to the party but finally hoping on the Gideon train
And if I may ask
What do you see in this ?
Don’t get me wrong the idea is good. The idea is very fucking good. The execution though ? Eh. Gideon is the same manic pixie girl you see in every YA ever written (so quirky teehee I hate my life but also I am super strong and smart and isn’t my sense of humour so LOVELY you want to fucking DIE for it ??), the worldbuilding is absolutely non existent (I get that the author wanted to build some mystery around it but you still have to get some background out of it at some point), the relationship between Gideon and Harrow makes so bloody sense (why are so supposed to like her suddenly like 300 pages into a 400 pages book ??), the murder mystery whodunit is not enough, most of it doesn’t really hold together sadly. I will read the rest because it’s not that bad and I NEED to know what the fuck is going on, but dude it’s so dry.
As I said.
Eh.
