It has been a while since I read a Temperance Brennan  story.  This fits in very nicely with her other  Temperance Brennan novels.  It takes place after COVID and the science part is very much about vaccines. (I hope no vaccine deniers read this book).  This goes like so many of her stories.  She brought in on a case and she works with the police to solve it.  This time with both Montreal and North Carolina police.  One of the thing I did not like in her early books, its that Temperance had to be rescued at the climax.  The climax is much better here.
She is attacked by the villain of the story and she holds him off long enough  for the police to arrive.
