A strong premise with some weaker elements. I usually like a fake dating trope (don’t judge me) but I can say this is the first time where both parties believed they were the ones faking it. And even then, it delved into them both knowing the other was also faking it? I don’t know it got weird on that front.
As for the magic system, it was aiight. Rune’s blood supply chain was hella gross. But hopefully book 2 has some more magic to it as it somehow took a backburner to everything else going on.
I did like most the characters, even if Rune did some really dumb things toward the beginning. She did get smarter along the way. So I’m interested to see where book 2 takes them.
