This book had an original concept with some dark, punchy writing that consistently found humor in the most unlikely of places. Not a single character in the book is objectively likeable but it's very easy to enjoy their company. The plot is almost completely character driven so it doesn't really follow a stone cold direction at all times. I'd give it a 4.5 star rating but the writing did at all times feel like reading someone's grocery/pharmacy list and the numerous references to pop culture can at times be slightly tedious to get through. It was a constantly gripping experience though so even if at times it did get a tad bit tedious, I always knew I was in safe hands with Ottessa Moshfegh's writing and getting through the tedious bit would be rewarding.
Graphic: Addiction, Domestic abuse, Drug abuse, and Toxic relationship
Moderate: Suicidal thoughts and Toxic relationship
