“You’re a sorceress. You’re lifting the waves and will drown us all.”
The first full length book I’ve read from Deborah Levy did not disappoint. Direct, piercing, reverent. Certain images may seem over-explained or a bit too directly connected to previous happenings, but, in the context of the protagonist, this is done in a self aware manner and nearly always has multiple ways of perceiving the image.
A lot of this book reminds me of a Sin7ven lyric from “Imago:” “I needed some visions to know not to see everything as an image alone.”
