The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn
4.0
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! The Duke and I was fun but lackluster and ruined for me due to the end. I really enjoyed the banter and love between Kate and Anthony. I thought I’d find Anthony more insufferable, but he’s made tolerable by Kate. I also didn’t find his hang ups to actually be that silly, and find it less agonizing than the conflict last book. The grief that Anthony feels makes sense, and Kate taking it in with such grace is excellent.
I don’t have interest in watching the first season of Bridgerton but I might have to tune in to second season to see Kate and Anthony’s chemistry on screen. 3.5 rounded up to 4.
I want to mention that I think I enjoy these books a lot because I'm consuming them via audiobook. I think this is the way historical romance should be consumed for me, since it allows me to suspend my disbelief on a lot of things and just enjoy what I'm reading. Maybe that's the ADHD brain. Plus the audio is excellent and I find a lot of romances are made better by their performances, especially these.
