“I used to dream only of fire and ash,” he whispered, running a thumb over my cheek as I lifted my face to meet his gaze. “Now when I close my eyes, all I see is your face.”
YES. A million times yes. DELECTABLE, if you will! While I love fantasy and especially romantasy, this was my first Viking inspired fantasy. Let me just say, I ate every second of this book up. Shockingly, and also pleasantly enough, this book did not bore me half to death in the beginning with endless pages of world building and terribly dry descriptions. Yet, the author painted perfectly vivid images in my mind of this world and its somewhat basic but intriguing magic system. The romance is very much a slow burn but it just makes you want it more. Which, puts me exactly in Freya’s shoes. I also absolutely loved this couple together! Some couples make me cringe because they are either too much or not enough. These characters were perfect and completely relatable, while at the same time, offering unique perspectives in a magical and violent world. I absolutely cannot wait for the second book to come out. Five star read, hands down.
Spice rating: 2.5/5 🌶️
