Learn Your Lesson by Kandi Steiner

5.0

Let's get straight to this. This was an awesome read. Highly recommend.

You've got the grumpy, single dad, hockey player who is tangling with the quixotic but adorable nanny. Tale as old as time. What sets this book apart is -

Kandi Steiner has a way with words and it was a really sharp, well written novel. It was less about the story and more about the characters and how she moulded them with really poignant flaws and emotions. Will was complex but at least he could identify where his conflicts were coming from & how he struggled to overcome them. I don't cry for books but let's just say, there were a few tears shed for Will & his struggles.....

Chloe - she was light, funny but also very layered. You could see her struggle to leave her past behind & rise above it . While I did ask myself if I needed more of a backstory about the deadbeat men who left her mom & grandma, resulting in them becoming man-haters - I actually don't think it impacted the story much.

The cast of characters was great - they didn't overwhelm the story & just hovered on the side, and everyone had a role in being a positive influence at the right time.

I loved it, would probably read it again.
