A Song for Quiet by Cassandra Khaw

4.0

While book one is about facing monsters, A Song for Quiet is about grief, and about the fight to not let it turn into despair.

I would read a dozen more John Persons novellas. From the opening pages, I found myself lingering over the sentences, over the images, over the way Khaw captures their subject and lays it out on the page. The cosmic horror continues, and standing against it there is music, there is hope--and there is the watchful eye of one grizzled PI who most certainly isn't as human as he might appear.
