From Ashes by Molly McAdams

TRIGGER WARNINGS: This book does describe in some graphic detail previous child abuse through memories sporadically throughout the book. It also has cheating, though not condoned or part of the main story.

This book was truly an emotional roller coaster for me. I loved and hated in equal measure. But I will say this... the author has an extraordinary ability to write characters that will make you so physically angry you will want to reach into the book and strangle them with your own bare hands. I had a few occasions where I had to set the book down and take some breaths because I was so angry at a fictional character! This may sound like a negative, but this is the utmost of compliments from me. When an author can make me feel that strongly about a person who doesn't truly exist, that's pure talent.

I find such beauty in stories where the main character has gone through hell and comes out strong and amazing on the other side. I was also glad that a couple of the characters had somewhat redeeming moments. But my favorite part was the romance. I love Gage and think he was just what Cassidy needed. I was supremely pleased with how the book turned out. And knowing it's the first in a series has me super excited to find the rest of the books!
