Dangerous Game: An Armed & Dangerous/Circle of Justice Crossover Novel by L.P. Dover

4.0

This is kind of a new genre to me - anti-mafia romance! I'm not a lover of Mafia type stories so this really intrigued me.

Dominic has taken over the "family" in the aftermath of the death of his father and uncle. He's determined to make them legit but at the same time secure their businesses from the remaining hardline mafia families. He does have another little problem to deal with - his attraction to his sister's best friend. He was aware that the attraction was mutual but his sister didn't want to mix Faith into the family business, especially when they were trying to leave it behind themselves!

Faith is living a cliched nightmare. She caught her husband banging the new hire at work - the firm they both started! When he pulls a fast one and leaves her with nothing she has to rely on the generosity of her bestie and her brother. But will the offer of a new job with Dominic solve her problems or add to them??

I have to admit I loved Dom's approach to Faith's husband when he first meets him. I expected the slime ball to wee himself! He ties himself in knots occasionally straddling the line of "the Family" and his family. Faith is never a damsel in distress just a woman with a wrinkle or two to solve but she's never too proud to accept help. She sees her flaws and embraces them.

I hadn't read any of the Circle of Justice series and I'm going to correct that ASAP - FBI assassins have got my attention.
