This was a lovely little short story about Tazia Nerif (human) and Stefan (Telekinetic Psy) who work together on a deep sea research vessel. He's seemingly cold and unmoving and Tazia is brimming with live. But, there is some secret pining behind that ice cold facade. And watching these two discover new things about each other was wonderful.

Nalini Singh managed to pack so much into this short story - there is family dynamics and familial expectations, childhood trauma, and characters trying to find their place in the world Also, I really loved that this story featured a hero who wasn't this intense alpha male. The love between these two characters is a quiet and sincere love, but they are no less devoted to one another.

Three Thoughts:
1. I loved how respectful Stefan was of Tazia's values and family. He never pushed or judged - just supported her in whatever way she needed.
2. I liked that they were both virgins - and that their intimacy was not about technical skill or sexual prowess, but about connection with each other.
3. Stefan's line about saving Tazia's dress for their daughter "for she will not have to marry in secret" *swoon*

This was a wonderful short story and definitely worth reading for fans of the series.
