Let me just tell you, this would’ve been five stars if the author had kept the awful parent the same instead of his slight redemption,

but this was a great read. Books with

parental emotional abuse

really fuck me up in the feels area, I guess. So, emotionally, this book messed me up for the majority of it. (If I didn’t have daddy issues, would I rate this lower for the

emotionally abusive father

because I couldn’t relate or higher for the attempted redemption? Hm. We’ll never know.)
