A Natural Woman: A Memoir by Carole King

3.0

I don't know how to react to this. I love Carole King's music. It's been part of my life since I was a tiny girl. The parts of her memoir that were about music, and the parts she SANG a capella, well, those were extraordinary. However, the parts where she detailed in mind-numbing detail the minutiae of her road-use lawsuit... The parts where she talked about spousal abuse were very strong and affecting. The parts where she was obviously looking at her life through a vaseline-coated lens were just annoying.

Overall, it was worth listening to, but if you asked me I'd tell you to just listen to Tapestry twice instead.
