My copy of this was 123 pages (with notes and illustrations) and it’s utterly brilliant! I read throughout today, in one day, between busy times at my job and after dinner. We—modern readers—get so caught up in what’s new and exciting that I think too many sleep on classics. We don’t revisit the things that inspired the things we love, and doing that only makes all of today’s works so much richer. I love seeing the parts that were then turned into 100 Years of Solitude and Brave New World, and I love seeing what Voltaire took from Utopia (literally steals a line/idea from it!) and Gulliver's Travels.
This book is short, easy to read, drop-dead funny in parts, and I think everyone should read it. It's truly, the best of all worlds.
