Torn between a 3.75 and a 4 on this one, so let's be generous and round up. A beautiful, but difficult read. It's honestly what I wanted (but didn't get) from We All Loved Cowboys. The storytelling via "notebooks" is slightly disconnected, making it hard to follow, but ultimately (I think) worth the investment.
I feel like, having read it once, I need to set it down now and re-read it in a few years to really get the most from it. It has the the feeling of a book that you'll always get something different from each time you read it. The author references Murakami a few times in the book, and you can definitely see the influence on their writing style - which I say as a compliment.
