What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez

adventurous emotional funny inspiring lighthearted

this book felt like a love letter to home country - Egypt - and I absolutely enjoyed every word of it. The atmosphere, vibes and overall storyline was impeccable. The author did an amazing job with the writing, imagery and description of everything. It felt like I was on an archeological discovery adventure myself. This book tackles a mystery that I found so incredibly intriguing and thrilling - the search for Cleopatra's tomb! It talks about artifacts, discoveries over the years, pharaohs history, graves robbing and so much more. The characterization was excellent and strong - the audiobook did an incredible job at endorsing that as well - I was immediately sucked in and invested. The main arc of this book gets resolved but the sneaky author leaves us panting with a killer cliffhanger to set the path for the second book and I'm here for it. The romance wasn't original but it was so enticing with some tension and angst - if that's something you like. Although it felt juvenile at some parts but not any less entertaining. I cannot wait for the second book.
