This was a sneaky five stars for me. It starts a little slow, and I was a little bored with Alice's myopia and ruminations on privilege. But as the book continued, I felt more and more attached to and moved by Alice's relationships with her dad and her best friend, and with Alice's thoughts on time and where she thought she'd be in her life at 40. Once she traveled back in time, I became really invested in what would happen, but not so much in a plot way - more that I wanted to see where Alice emotionally ended up. The last third of the book really affected me. I found myself tearing up at Alice's feelings about spending time with her dying dad, and I was heartened by her approach to life. This one will stay with me for a while.
