Wrath by Daniel Kraus, Sharon Moalem
4.0
Crichton was the first author I ever really grew attached to, and as a big fan of Kraus, seeing the pitch for this was hugely intriguing. A tech-thriller about killer rats, written by the king of gore? Hell yeah, count me in.
This was great - utterly engaging and pulls you in right away, I never wanted to put it down. It also takes a couple of great heel-turns; while the plot probably won't surprise you much, the structure might. Sammy is a character for the ages, I loved his chapters.
My one complaint is that it frequently puts the action off screen. That's not to say there aren't some really horrific death scenes, but I'd have loved an extra 100 or so pages detailing a few key scenes in more detail. I wasn't really ready for the book to be over and the climax happens extremely quickly.
Fans of Kraus and Crichton won't be disappointed, I really enjoyed this.
