A creepy and adrenaline rush filled story about Addy, fresh out of a controlling marriage and on a solo journey to meet some friends. When an Indrid Cold-like creep with a permanent wide grin tries running her off the road, the weather turns bad and high strangeness begins to occur. Things get worse for Addy and before she knows it is fighting for her life, cold and alone. Will she survive? See for yourself.
I liked the Mothman character leaning into all the various reports of some people being so terrified and sensing danger, to other reports being warnings
The story went by quick because of how much adrenaline the main character experiences, at the end of each chapter things seem to get worse for Addy in some creepy new way before it levels out for the ending.
I enjoyed this quick read. Although I feel like there was perhaps a little too much of these bad-to-worse scenarios, it got a bit much by the end of the book and a little too much repetition of outlining that her husband was a controlling asshole (this was done fine by the inner voices already). I did like Addy finally embracing her voice and anger and letting it loose on the men who ignored her.
