The Layover by Lacie Waldon

This is a cute summer read! I loved the setting, the plane and Belize, such a beach vibe. This book is a perfect beach read. Ava is a relatable and real character. She really develops throughout the story, having so many realizations and growing to understand what she wants out of life. Her relationship with Alexander and Jack were interesting! The way she acted at the beginning with Alexander rubbed me- but I realized that was a part of her story of growth. The tension with Jack is so well written! I was very invested. Jack is the perfect character, surprising but very sweet, I love how he was there for Ava and handled everything. The side characters were amazing, Gen was such a hoot and I loved what was happening with Paul! Any complains come from how the story is a tad unrealistic and quick paced, it kinda makes you wonder how feelings can change so quickly, also I found the writing style very specific. The story takes place over three or four days and we literally read about almost every single thing that happens to the main character. This book brought the laughs and the summer love vibes. It was engaging and easy to read!! Great debut!!
