Great Ending

What a great end to the series. I don’t really know what to say about it as I don’t want to give anything away.

It was a constant skirmish as each side tried to get the upper hand and each victory was hard fought by both the civilians and the gods involved. This author writes a good fight scene, so it was a well crafted book. I tried to slow down the read and savour it but the fast pace of the book and my constant needing to know where we were going next changed that.

I felt for Patrick at the start as his world imploded. His grief was tangible. I’ve seen the gods be really self -absorbed throughout this series, but I felt that Zeus and Hera were quite cold and callous in how they treated him here. He knew what he had to do, that was not the time to be reminding him of his duty.

I enjoyed seeing throughout the series which sides the gods I knew turned up on. Some to me were easy picks, but a couple were different, but when thought about made sense. A few I knew nothing about like Baba Yaga and once I read up about her understood why she was on that side. I enjoyed learning about different pantheons throughout the series.

I really liked how it was resolved at the end, it actually made sense to me. I did expect a greater death toll on the group and was preparing myself for some sad goodbyes. I did want some more information at the end. What happened to Nadine and Spencer after, General Reed and the Hellraisers etc. We know about the pack but I also cared about the supporting characters too.

Can’t wait to either do a reread or listen to this one on audio and pick up things that I missed in this read.
