Meg by Steve Alten

3.0

I should probably rate the book 3.5 stars. It's an incredibly unbelievable book... But isn't that what reading is sometimes about? Just to escape to another world? This book certainly does that. Cheese and some more cheese. Oh, and lots of blood.

The premise of the story initially wasn't too bad and if it expanded on that, I probably would've given it 4 stars. However, the ending (I don't want to give away spoilers) was just simply too far-fetched for me. The way that the protagonist comes to a head with the Megalodon was simply 10 steps too far for me.

If you are after shock value, blood and guts, start reading right away. You won't be disappointed. This book"s movie equivalent would be Ghostbusters or The Pink Panther - pure fun, but it won't win any Oscars. If on the other hand, you are searching for something more "meaty", rather read Of Mice and Men.

Best to be read when one is on a beach holiday 😉
