I can finally say I've read Lord of the Flies now so that's something!
It was exactly what I expected, which is one of the reasons I had not read it. it has become a piece of classic literature for a reason, the fact it's fairly harrowing is the point, but still meant I had spent my reading life, at any prospect of reading it, responding quite like "no, I get it, I get it, the summary will do for me!!"
It clearly has meant a lot to the illustrator; the love for the original book shines through and they've carefully kept as much of the original text as possible that made sense.
The choice of artist is perfect, and it's already sold out from my workplace :)
