I decided to reread this book because the movie is coming out later this week on netflix. I give Sarah Dessen's books a lot of credit for defining the way I read now, because back when I was 11/12 I really didn't read as much as I used to because I felt like I was at an awkward age where I didn't necessarily know what I was meant to be reading. Then I started reading Sarah Dessen and transitioned into the world of YA. I read and reread her books for the entirety of my teen years and loved them all every time. But I haven't touched them in a few years because I don't really read YA anymore and I didn't want to taint what was once very special to me. That, however, did not happen.
I truly loved reading this even now. The setting is so dreamy and exactly what a person wishes their summers could have been like and the characters always have such realistic arcs that you root for. She also always writes very endearing love interests. So, yeah, this holds up and I am very excited to watch the movie later this week.
