Everything's Fine by Cecilia Rabess
5.0

When I first read the premise of this book I was taken aback, but I was interested in seeing how this storyline was executed. I received an ARC from the publisher and I was really impressed with this debut. I look forward to Rabess' next.

Let me start by saying this isn't a romance so much as a story about identity, coming of age, and relationships at large: how Jess views herself, her father, friends, and Josh. Jess meets Josh for the first time when Barack Obama wins the US presidency, and the story ends on Trump's inauguration day. 2016 seems like a lifetime ago and 2008 at least 3, but Rabess captures it perfectly: the hope for something better, the shock and fear that came later, and through it all is Jess who just like many in real life is trying to figure it all out.

For those who are concerned about the content, I encourage you to check out the book from your local library before reviewing it.
