The Lost Vintage by Ann Mah

5.0

A very enjoyable book that combines three things that fascinate me: wine, France and the Second World War.

Slightly predictable, yes. Sometimes a little too romantic. But a great book for relaxed reading, with two separate storylines that smoothly blend into each other and well-written dialogues. With depictions of vineyards so vivid, I could almost hear the leaves rustling in the wind.

I particularly like the fact that she took time to describe the purifications that took place shortly after the war and recognises that they were predominantly targeted at women, all too often executed by male collaborators.
