The Flash, Vol. 2: The Road to Flashpoint by Geoff Johns

5.0

This series was so good. Geoff Johns does understand Barry Allen to a depth not everyone else around does. Francis Manapul’s art is beautiful— I know, I know, I’m not a big fan of Kolins’ art, but when mixed with Manapul’s I can handle it.
Anyway, this whole thing lead to Flashpoint and I guess I didn’t enjoy it that much when it was first published because of all the rant around, Dan DiDio saying this was just a “soft reboot”, that things weren’t going to be changing that much. Actually, it was a hard-core reboot. I may have appreciated much more what was going on at the time, even if the New 52 turned out to be such a fiasco. The build up to Flashpoint was great though, and the relaunch shouldn’t be defining the creative process that lead to it.
Geoff Johns is consistently one of the best writers DC Comics has ever had.
