"I've never even had you, and your body haunts mine."
Hook Line and Sinker is the second book for the Bellinger Sisters from Tessa Bailey. Readers followed along in It Happened One Summer as Piper Bellinger met her match with grumpy sea captain Brendon. But, with this book, it's finally Hannah's time to shine, and did she shine!
Hannah is my favorite of the Bellinger sisters. I adored her honest, loving personality and applauded her for standing up for what she knew to be wrong. In It Happened One Summer, I found Piper's character overly entitled and hard to like, but Hannah was a breath of fresh air.
This whole story was full of so much heart. I respected Tessa Bailey for highlighting how harmful the sexualization of adolescent boys can be to their confidence and future relationships. We often hear the terms "he's going to grow up to be a heartbreaker" or "the girls better watch out for him." As a society, we're often influenced to think of these statements as compliments. But are they? Or, could they be subtly implying that "this is the only thing you're going to be capable of"? I'd honestly never considered this question until reading Fox's story.
I desperately wanted to jump into this book and shake Fox, telling him that he is much more than his crew, family, or friends think of him. It hurt my heart to read through his inner dialogue and just how little confidence he had in himself.
❤️🩹 A lot of heart to this story
🥰 Fox
🔥 Steamy
🤩 Truly love Hannah
🥳 The perfect Epilogue
I recommend you read Hook, Line & Sinker if you enjoyed It Happened One Summer — the ending of Hannah's story perfectly wrapped up both books.
