The Noh Family by Grace K. Shim
4.0

This book gets a solid 3.75 ⭐️

The -0.25 comes from the multiple mentions of Lee Min Ho, and I've never been the biggest fan or follower of this specific k-drama actor. (Hehe).

I found The Noh Family to read like a coming of age meets a makjang drama, which wasn't surprising considering how the book starts with the main character watching a drama like that. It set the tone for how things would develop. Chloe is a young girl who didn't feel she had a family, wanted one, only to find out her father's side of the family are chaebols.

I didn't find Chloe to be ungrateful or annoying, considering her mother did keep things from her, and she did feel that she was sacrificing a lot of her future. This is where you can see the communication between Chloe and her mother needed some serious fixing. None of the developments of the book were revolutionary, but it did feel like watching a k-drama in where the female lead is optimistic and naive, finding out things aren't like that and you wanting yell at her that she is being easily persuaded by the pretty.

This book was an enjoyable read, easy to get through. It wasn't a page turner where I needed to find out right away what was going on, but it was easy to process, and I wanted to finish to make sure my assumptions were correct. The rich are simply rude.

The ending, though ... was it her? (lol)
